Indications & Dose:

Benign gastric, duodenal or NSAID-associated ulceration

• BY MOUTH

Adult: 300 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks, dose to be

taken in the evening, alternatively 150 mg twice daily

for 4–8 weeks; maintenance 150 mg once daily, dose tobe taken at night

Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease

Adult: 150–300 mg twice daily for up to 12 weeks

Hypersensitivity to nizatidine or other H2-receptor antagonists

antacids: Decreased nizatidine bioavailability itraconazole, ketoconazole: Decreased absorption of these drugs
salicylates: Increased blood level of these drugs
sucralfate: Possibly decreased nizatidine absorption

Side Effects Or Adverse Reactions:

CNS: Agitation, anxiety, confusion, depression, dizziness, fatigue, fever, hallucinations, headache, insomnia, somnolence

CV: Arrhythmias,chest pain, vasculitis

EENT: Amblyopia, dry mouth, laryngeal edema, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis

ENDO: Gynecomastia

GI: Abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, hepatitis, nausea, vomiting

GU: Decreased libido, hyperuricemia not associated with gout or nephrolithiasis, impotenc

HEME: Anemia, aplastic anemia, eosino-philia, hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, neu-tropenia, pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia

MS: Back pain, myalgia For nocturnal acid secretion; up to 4 hr for food-stimulated acid secretion.

RESP: Bronchospasm, cough

SKIN: Alopecia, diaphoresis, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, jaundice, pruritus, rash, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, urticaria 

Other: Anaphylaxis, angioedema, serum sicknesslike reaction
