Indications & Dose:

Adults, children and infants aged 3 months and over for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory disorders of the skin where secondary bacterial infection is present, suspected or likely to occur. Cream formulation is indicated in wet lesions. Ointment formulation is indicated in dry lesions.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: For adults, children and infants aged three months and over, apply a thin film of to the affected areas twice daily for upto 10 days depending upon the response.

Contraindications:

Rosacea,Acne vulgaris, Perioral dermatitis , Primary cutaneous viral infections, Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, Perianal and genital pruritis, Primary infected skin lesions caused by infection with fungi and bacteria. Dermatoses in children under 3 months of age, including dermatitis and napkin eruptions

Prolonged application of high doses to large areas of body surface, especially in infants and small children, might lead to adrenal suppression. Children have a greater surface area to body weight ratio compared with adults. Therefore in comparison with adults,children may absorb proportionally larger amounts of topical corticosteroids and thus be more susceptible to systemic toxicity. Care should be taken when using to ensure the amount applied is the minimum that provides therapeutic benefit. Avoid prolonged application to the face and ensure that preparation does not enter the eye. treatment should be discontinued, the product should be rinsed off and appropriate alternative therapy for the infection is required to be instituted with medical advice.

pregnant mothers should only be considered if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the foetus.

 UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS 

Local burning,erythema and pruritus. If signs of hypersensitivity appear, application should be stopped immediately.

Prolonged and intensive treatment with potent corticosteroid containing preparations may cause local atrophic changes in the skin such as thinning, striae, dilation of the superficial blood vessels, hypertrichosis and hypo pigmentation.

Prolonged use of large amounts of cortico- steroids, or treatment of extensive areas, can result in sufficient systemic absorption to produce the features of hypercortisolism. This effect is more likely in infants and children and if occlusive dressing are used . In infants the napkin may act as an occlusive dressing.
