Indications & Dose:

As an antidote or “rescue” after treatment with (high-dose) methotrexate. In the treatment of megaloblastic anaemias, owing to folate deficiency.
DOSE

Antidote: To be adjusted to individual needs, provided that it corresponds to approximately 10 to 20 per cent of the methotrexate dose.

Megaloblastic anaemias: Treatment, initial course of 10mg daily for 10 to 15 days but 1mg daily is probably adequate, subsequent therapy and dosage modified to the haematological response

Contraindications:

Pernicious anaemias or megaloblastic anaemia showing to deficiency of vit. B12. Patients with gastro-intestinal irritations (vomiting and diarrhea).
