| Types | Types of pneumonia: A. According to source of infection: 1. Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) - usually primary pneumonia. 2. Hospital-acquired pneumonia (usually secondary pneumonia - occurs when the host or the lungs are diseased or weakened): 3. Pneumonia in the immunocompromised patients B. According to site of involvement (Radiological classification): 1. Lobar20%. 2. Lobular70%. 3. Segmental 10%. C. According to causative organism 1. Bacterial (mostly pneumococcal then staph. auerus, haemophilus influenzae, klebsiella etc.) 2. Rickettsial. 3. Viral. 4. Parasitic and 5. Fungal. 6 Other opportunitic organisms |
