| Introduction | Angina pectoris is a clinical syndrome characte-rized by chest pain or discomfort of cardiac origin due to transient myocardial ischaemia as a consequence of inadequate coronary blood flow. Coronary atheroma is the commonest cause. The term ‘angina’ is a Greek word, means ‘strangulation’, as many patients complain of choking or strangling sensation. |

| Types | Types of Angina: 1. Stable or classical angina 2. Acute coronary syndrome a. Unstable angina b. Myocardial infarction 3. Variant or Prinz Metal angina 4. Decubitus angina (angina occuring on lying flat) 5. Nocturnal angina (angina occuring at night and may wake the patient from sleep, violent dream may be the provoking cause). |
