| Signs Symptoms | Symptoms- 1. Discomfort & foreign body sensations. 2. Photophobia. 3. Watering of the eye. 4. Sticking together of the lid margins during sleep. 5. Rainbow hallow around the light. 6. Conjunctival congestion. Signs- 1. Chemosisof the conjunctiva. 2. Mucopurulent discharge accumulates at the inner and outer-canthus, lower fomix or at the roots of the lashes. |

| Preventions | Precaution: Steroids are particularly contraindicated. |
| Treatment | Treatment: Prophylaxis- 1. Towels and other belongings of the patient should not be used by the other members of the family. 2. Protection of the unaffected eye. 3. Patient should lie on the affected side. Curative- t 1. The eyes should be washed with normal saline thrice daily. 2. Antimicrobial eye preparation- such as chloram-phenicol or sulphacetamide drops & ointment 4-5 times daily. 3. Broad spectrum antibiotic like 1% tetracycline ointment at bed time. 4. If cornea involved-1% atropine sulphate twice daily should be used. 5. Dark galsses should be used, no pad. |
