| Treatment | Treatment: Treatment should be according to the cause. At first physiological measures should be tried such as- ensure the patient, hot & cold bath, maintenance of privacy for micturition, sounds of water etc. In a proportion of cases the patient is able to pass urine, but it usually fails if there is prostate enlargement. If these measures fail, catheterization should be attempted under all aseptic precaution. A soft rubber catheter e.g Foley’s catheter is used. If after a reasonable attempt with catheterization the bladder has not been entered, then either supra-pubic catheterization or suprapubic puncture with a hollow needle should be performed. |
