Ibuprofen IV

Indications & Dose:

mild to moderate and moderate to severe pain

Adults 400mg to 800mg as an IV infusion over 30 minutes

(min. 10 minutes*) every 6 hours as necessary.

Max. daily dose is 3,200mg.

Fever

400mg as an IV infusion over 30 minutes (min. 10 minutes*), followed by 400mg every 4 to 6 hours or 100-200mg every 4 hours as necessary.

Max. daily dose is 3,200mg.

Paediatrics

(6 months to <12 years) 10mg/kg as an IV infusion over 10 minutes up to a max. single dose of 400mg every 4 to 6 hours as necessary.

Max. daily dose is 40mg/kg or 2,400mg, whichever is less.

Paediatrics

(=12 to 17 years) 400mg as an IV infusion over 10 minutes every 4 to 6 hours as necessary.Max. daily dose is 2,400mg.

100mg to 400mg dose Dilute 1mL to 4mL of Xaleve in at least 100mL of diluent.

800mg dose Dilute 8mL of Xaleve in at least 200mL of diluent

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, aspirin or any other NSAID. History of asthma, urticaria or Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery

Precautions:

 IV infusion ONLY. It should not be given as an IV bolus or IM injection.

Caution in patients with known cardiovascular (CV) disease or risk factors for CV disease, a history of peptic ulcer disease and/or GI bleeding, liver/renal disease.

Avoided in pregnant women starting at 30 weeks gestation.
