Indications & Dose:

It is a uniform suspension of diphtheria and tetanus toxoid adsorbed on aluminium phosphate and suspended in isotonic saline solution.


INDICATIONS:


For active immunisation of children against diphtheria and tetanus in cases where it is decided not to immunise against pertussis also. 


DOSE:


3 i.m. injections of 0.5ml to be administer with an interval of 4-8 weeks between doses. A fourth injection of 0.5ml should be admn. i.m. approximately one year after initial injection. 

Contraindications:

CONTRAINDICATIONS:


Children with fever or evidence of acute illness. Defer adminis-tration of DPT/DT during an outbreak of poliomyelitis. Not to be given to children above 6 years and adults because of danger of reaction to diphtheria.

Mild local reactions like pain, redness, tenderness at the site of injection, mild to moderate transient fever and irritability.

Anaphylaxis or acute hypersensitivity reaction. Do not give immunoglobulin concurrently.
