Indications & Dose:
Psoriasis, vitiligo.
DOSE
Sol/oint: Soln/oint to be used in small and localised patches or if patient cannot tolerate oral therapy or in children < 12 years or in renal disease/hepatitis.
Adults & Children: Apply on affected part and expose to sun after 30 minute for 2-15 min depending on redness produced. Start minimum concentration e.g. 1:9 dilution with vaseline or Eaudecologne, grad-ually increase the concentration every week till minimum erythema dose is reached i.e. one which gives adequate redness on vitiliginous patches. Stop use if phototoxic reaction (blister) appears. Once the reaction settles use only minimum concentration which didn’t lead to blister formation.
Children: Oral: Avoid use in children below 12 years of age
Contraindications:
Not to apply to eyelids, genitals, lips, small children, jaundice.
Pregnancy, Breast-feeding: Contraindicated.
Side Effects:
Photoallergic reactions, blistering, phototoxic eruptions, GI upset, nausea, insomnia, headache, dizziness, psychological depression, leg cramps, malaise

Eye and lip protection 24 hours post administration. Over expo-sure to sunlight, artificial UV emission. Do not sunbathe during the 24 hours prior to methoxsalen ingestion and UV exposure.
Old age: May be used
Interaction:
Drugs
UV light and overexposure to sunlight: May result in severe burns.
Drugs known to cause photosensitisation – Griseofulvin, phenothiazines, nalidixic acid, halogenated salicylanilides tetracyclines, thiazides: Special care should be exercised in treating patients who are taking these drugs.
