Indications & Dose:

Topical adjunct in 2nd and 3rd degree burns when bacterial resistance is a potential problem; prevention of infection of skin grafts and/or donor sites prior to or following surgery Antibacterial spectrum usually includes:


• S. aureus, Streptococcus, E. coli, Clostridium perfringens, Aerobacter aerogens, Proteus spp.

• TOP apply to affected area qd or every few days, depending on dressing technique; apply directly or place on gauze; flushing with sterile saline facilitates removal Locally apply 2-4 times daily.

Renal function impairnnent ((ointment contains polyethylene glycol); children; superinfection with non-susceptible organisms possible; no evidence of efficacy in minor burns, surface bacterial infection involving wounds, cutaneous ulcers, or the various pyodermas
