Indications & Dose:
Treatment of acute bacterial infection of the external eye. Treatment of external ocular diseases involving the conjunctiva and cornea.
DOSE AND ADMINISTRATION
Adults & Children Eye Drops: Instill one drop into the conjunctival sac 2-4 times per day. In acute cases, up to 1 drop every hour may be used.
Contraindications:
This preparation is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Repeated courses and prolonged treatment may produce overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms including fungi. Drug should be discontinued in case of superinfection. The topical use of Chloramphenicol should be supplemented by appropriate systemic medications.

Repeated courses and prolonged topical treatment should be avoided. It should not be used in patients with preexisting bone marrow depression & blood dyscrasia

Side Effects Or Adverse Reactions:
Peripheral as well as optic neuritis has been reported. In patients receiving Chloramphenicol over prolonged period result in bone marrow depression. Hyersensitivity reactions may occur especially after topical use.
