Chloramphenicol

Indications & Dose:

It is a broad spectrum antibacterial drug.

INDICATIONS: Bacterial infection in otitis externa, chronic otitis media, pre and post aural or mastoid surgery.

DOSE

Adults : 2-3 drops, 3-4 times daily. Children: 1-2 drops thrice daily

Shortly after application a slight burning sensation and bitter taste in the mouth may occur. Allergic reactions in the form of palpebral eczema have been rarely reproted. Partially irreversible blood dyscrasias (aplastic anaemia, pancytopenia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis) have been rately observed in association with topical use of Chloramphenicol.
