Diclofenac Diethyl Ammonia Salt

Indications & Dose:

For the local symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation in: Trauma of the tendons, ligaments and joints, e.g. due to sprains and bruises, Localized forms of soft tissue rheumatism, It is recommended that treatment he reviewed after 14 days in these indications. In the treatment of osteoarthritis, should be reviewed after 4 weeks.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Adult:

DICLOFENAC DIETHYL AMMONIA SALT should be rubbed gently into skin. Depending on the size of the affected site to be treated 2-4g (a circular shaped mass approximately 2.0-2.5cm in diameter) should be applied 3-4 times daily After application, the hands should be washed unless they are the site being treated. Elderly: The usual adult dosage may be used children; it is not recommended for use in children as dosage recommendations and indication for use in this group of patients. It is suitable for the transmission of ultrasound and may be used as a couplant in combination with ultrasound therapy. If large areas of the body are covered with gel, systemic absorption will be greater and the risk of side-effects increased, especially if the therapy is used frequently. 

Contraindications:

Patients with or without asthma in whom attacks asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis arc precipitated by aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Hypersensitivity to Diclotenac, acetylsalieylic acid or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Hypersensitivity to propylene glycol or other components of the gel base.

Concomitant use of oral NSAID’s should be cautioned at the incidence of untoward effects particularly systemic side effects It should lot he co-administered with other products containing diclofenae It should he applied only to intact non-diseased skin and not to skin wounds or open Injuries. It should not be used with occlusion. It should not be allowed to come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes, and should never be taken by mouth. Pregnancy and Lactation: It is not recommended due to the Animal data has shown an increased incidence of dystonia and delayed parturition when drug is continued into late pregnancy.

Dosage: The low systemic absorption of

In the event of accidental ingestion, resulting in significant systemic side effects, Supportive and Symptomatic treatment should be given for complications such as hypotension, renal failure, convulsions. gastrointestinal irritation and respiratory depression, specific therapies such as forced diuresis, dialysis or haemoperfusion are probably of no help in eliminating NSAID’s due to their rate of protein binding and extensive metabolism.
