Indications & Dose:

Prevention and replenishment of reduced circulatory blood volume and interstitial fluid by replenishing water and electrolytes in E.C.F. under the following types of stress: Before, during and after surgey. trauma, scalds and burns etc.
DOSAGE:
Adults:
The usual adult dosage is 500-1000 mL at one time by intravenous drip infusion. The usual infusion rate is 300-500 mL per hour (about 75-125 drops per minute) for children.

Lactacidemia (lactic acidosis) with severe liver damage.

Precautions:

Renal failure due to renal diseases Cardiac failure. Reduced urinary output due to obstructive urinary tract diseases. Hypertonic dehydration. Severe liver damage. Alkalosis. Lactic acid metabolism disturbances. Sodium Chloride content of this solution is 6.0 gm/litre. Therefore, care should be taken in those cases where salt intake is restricted as in oedema, hypertension etc.
