Indications & Dose:
As dopamine agonist in: Parkinsons disease. As prolectin inhibitor: primary & secondary lactation mastitis, galactorrhoea, reduction excessive milk production, amenorrhoea, luteal insufficiency, prolectin induced infertility, if women disturbances of libido or potency of man.
DOSE: Initially 200mcg at bedtime with food increased as necessary at weekly interval to 200mcg twice daily (midday & at bedtime) further increase made by adding 200 mcg each week first to the bedtime dose then to midday dose & finally to morning dose max. 5mg daily in 3 divided doses after food.
Contraindications:
Severe disturbances of peripheral circulation, coronary insufficiency.
Side Effects:
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, leathargy, mailaise, drowsiness, psycotic reaction (hallucinations), occassionally severe hypotension & abdominal pain, rashes, constipation, Raynaudis phenomena.
Cautions:
History of pitiutory tumor, psychotic disturbances, pregnancy, porphyria, hypotention.

Neuroleptics and other dopamine antagonist (e.g. haloperidol, sulpiride metaclopramide, chlorpromazine) ergot alkaloids (e.g. methyl ergometrin).
