Medroxyprogestrone

Indications & Dose:

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, secondary amenorrhea, endometrial cancer, renal cancer, contraception, menopause, obesity hypoventilation syndrome (Pickwickian syndrome) obstructive sleep apnea, hirsutism homozygous sickle-cell disease* prostate carcinoma, treatment of prostate hypertrophy.

DOSE: 150mg by deep i.m. inj during 1st 5 days of cycle, repeat at 12 weeks intervals. Post partum, 150mg by deep i.m. inj within first 5 days if not breastfeeding or after 6 weeks if breast feeding repeat at 12 weks intervals. As long as the inj. is given no later than 5 days after the 12 weeks interval no additional contraception required. If later, pregnancy must be excluded before injection, is repeated and barrier contraception then used for 14 days.
