Pipemidic Acid

Indications & Dose:

Acute painful infections of the genitourinary tract (cystitis, pyelitis, cystopyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, post-partum pyelitis, etc.) caused by susceptible organism which are sensitive to pipemidic acid.



Adults: 400mg twice daily at 12 hours intervals, after meals, for at least 10 days.


Children: 14 years and older, same as adults.

While taking pipemidic acid it is adviseable not to expose one self for longer periods to the sun as there is a risk of photosensibility with a possible consequent bullous dermatitis.
