Dutasteride

Indications & Dose:

Benign prostatic hyperplasia



Adult: 500 micrograms daily, review treatment at 3–6 months and then every 6–12 months (may require several months treatment before benefit is obtained)


 

Contraindications:

For use in women and children. Patients with known hypersensitivity (e.g., angioedema) to dutasteride, other 5ƒ¿-reductase inhibitors, or any component of the preparation.

Side Effects:

Breast enlargement . breast tenderness . decreased libido . ejaculation disorders . impotence


CONCEPTION AND CONTRACEPTION Dutasteride is excreted in semen and use of a condom is recommended if sexual partner is pregnant or likely to become pregnant.
