Glimepride + Metformin Hcl

Indications & Dose:

In the management of type 2 diabetes (NIDM). Non Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus not sufficiently controlled by sulfonylurea therapy at maximum tolerated dose and in monotherapy treatment failure



Usual starting dose is one tablet with breakfast or the first main meal and 1 -2 tablets once daily to a maximum 04 Tablets/day. Dosage must be individualized on the basis of both effectiveness and tolerance. The maximum daily dose of Metformins 2000 mg and Glimepirides 8 mg. 

Contraindications:

Renal failure, Alcoholism, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus complicated by  ketosis and acidosis, Diabetes pre coma and coma, Chronic obstructive pulmonary  disease, Pregnancy, Juvenile onset diabetes, Congestive heart failure. Patient’s known to have hypersensitivity to this product Of any of its components.

Precautions:

Hypoglycaemia may occur . Immediate innervation should be done and signs and symptoms of Hypoglycaemia occur. In patients of renal or liver disease
