Indications & Dose:
Hydatid disease, neurocysticercosis. infestations by susceptible protozoa and helminths
Adults: 400mg as a single dose.
Strongyloidiasis, Taeniasis, H. nana infections:
400mg once daily for 3 consecutive days.
Hydatid disease:
400mg twice daily with meals for 28 days. Therapy may be repeated after 14 days interval for a total of 3 cycles.
Children: 1-2 years: 200mg as a single dose. Above 2 years: Same a adults.

Administer with corticosteroids in patients with neurocysticercosis, avoid during pregnancy

Dexamethasone: 56% increase in serum level of albendazole
Praziquantel: 50% increase in serum level of albendazole

CNS: Dizziness, headache
GI: Abdominal pain, abnormal LFTs anorexia, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, hepatotoxicity (5%, high dose only), nausea, vomiting
HEMS: Eosinophilia, neutropenia (5%, high dose only)
SKIN: Alopecia, pruritus, rash
MISC.: Fever
