Indications & Dose:
Tuberculosis.
DOSAGE:
Adults: Over 50kg. 2 cap/tab of 300 mg/ 150 mg dally: under 50 kg, 3 capAab o( 150 rng/ 100 mg dairy or 1 caprtab o1 450 mg/300 mg daily. All as a single dose belore breakfast.
Children: Up to 20mg/Vg daily calculated as rlfampicln to be given as a single dose.
Contraindications:
RIFAMPICIN: Previous hypersensitrvity to any ritamcyln.
ISONIAZID: Patients with previous isoniazid associated hepatic injury or other severe adverse reactions with Isoniazid.
Pregnancy: C (Risk cannot be ruled out). actation: > (Caution advised ot eltecl undetermined).

Urine, feaces. saliva, sputum sweat and tears may be colured red orange
.ISONIAZID: Patients with active chronic llvei disease or severe renal dysfunction. Isoniazid crosses the placental barrier and passes into maternal breast milk, observe neonates, breast ted infants of isoniazid treated mothers for any evidence ot adverse eflects
Interaction:
RIFAMPICIN: Known to induce hepatic mlciosomal enzymes that metabolize a wUe variety o1 drugs e.g. metopiolol. propranolol, quinidlne. cor-tlcosterolds, contraceptives, oral anticoagulants, oral suHonylureas. contraceptives, oral anticoagulants, oral sulfonylureas.
ISONIAZID: The effectiveness of isoniazid may be decreased when administered with corticosteroid. The effects ot benzodiazeplne may be increased. The hepatic toxicity of both isoniazid and/or rifamplcin may be increased when administered concornitantly.

RIFAMPICIN: Heartburn, epigastric distress, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, sore mouth. Rash, pruritus, urticaria. Eosinophllla, thrombocytopenia. Muscular weakness, pain in extremities. Visual distrubaces. Haemoglobinuria, he-maturla. Mensturaldlslurbances.
ISONIAZID: Peripheral neuropathy. Nausea, vomiting epigastric distress. Elevated SCOT. SGPT. SGOPT. Agranulocytosis., Fever, skin erupttions. pyridoxme defticiency.
