Indications & Dose:
Infections of the respiratory and genitourinary tract, bone; skin and intra-abdominal infections; gonococcal infections; septicemia caused by susceptible organisms; combination with tazobactam effective against Blactamase producing strains, moderate to severe nosocomial pneumonia

Drugs
Aminoglycosides: Carbenicillin and other piperacillins can inactivate aminoglycosides in vitro and in certain patients with renal dysfunction
Chloramphenicol: Inhibited antibacterial activity of piperacillin; administer piperacillin 3 hr before chloramphenicol
Macrolide antibiotics: Inhibited antibacterial activity of piperacillin; administer piperacillin 3 hr before macrolides
Methotrexate: Piperacillin in large doses may increase serum methotrexate concentrations
Oral contraceptives: Occasional impairment of oral contraceptive efficacy; consider use of supplemental contraception during cycles in which piperacillin is used etracyclines: Inhibited antibacterial activity of piperacillin; administer piperacillin 3 hr before tetracyclines

CNS: Anxiety, coma, depression, hallucinations, lethargy, seizures, twitching
GI: Abdominal pain, colitis, diarrhea, glossitis, increased AST, ALT; nausea, vomiting
GU: Glomerulonephritis, hematuria, moniliasis, oliguria, proteinuria, vaginitis
HEME: Anemia, bone marrow depression, inch bleeding time
METAB: Hypernatremia, hypokalemia
