HYDROXYZINE HCL

Indications & Dose:

Adults, Elderly & Children over 10 years

Antihistamine: 25mg 3-4 times daily

Anxiety: 50-100mg in equally divided doses.

Children:

Antihistamine: 6 years; 50-100mg daily in divided doses , less than 6 year 50mg daily in divided doses

Pruritus : 6month - 6 years; initially 15mg at night , increased if necessay up to 50mg daily in 3-4 divided doses . , 6-12 years initially 15-25mg at night , increased if necessary to 50-100mg aily in 3-4 divided doses , 12-18 years: initially 25mg at night, increased if necessary 50-100mg daily in divided doses.

Anxiety : below 6 years; 50 daily in divided doses , above 6 year 50-100mg daily in divided doses 6-10 years, 30-60mg in equally divided doses.

Childreb below 6 years:

2mg/kg/day divided 6-8 hours

Contraindications:

 Acute porphyria.

Pregnancy & breast-feeding: Contraindicated.

Side Effects:

ECG abnormalities. Intramuscular injection have been reported to cause marked local discomfort.

Incompatibility reported with aminophylline, benzyl penicillin salts, chloramphenicol, sodium succinate, thioridazine and some soluble barbiturates
