Indications & Dose:
Prophylaxis of angina
Adult: Initially 5 mg once daily; increased if necessary to 10 mg once daily, to be taken in the morning
Elderly: Initially 2.5 mg once daily; increased if necessary to 10 mg once daily, to be taken in the morning
Hypertension
Adult: Initially 5 mg once daily; usual maintenance 5–10 mg once daily, to be taken in the morning, doses above 20 mg daily rarely needed
Elderly: Initially 2.5 mg daily; usual maintenance 5–10 mg once daily, to be taken in the morning, doses above 20 mg daily rarely needed
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the preparation. Aortic stenosis, avoid within 1 month of myocardial infarction.Pregnancy, breast-feeding.
Side Effects:
CNS: Anxiety, depression, dizziness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, light headedness, tinnitus
CV: Edema, hypotension, Ml, palpitations, pulmonary edema, tachycardia, syncope
EENT: Cough; epistaxis, nasal congestion
GI: Gastric upset, gingival hyperplasia
GU: Nocturia, polyuria
HEME: Anemia
RESP: Shortness of breath, wheezing SKIN: Pruritus, rash
MISC: Flushing, sexual difficulties

Drugs
Barbiturates: Decreased felodipine bioBrands Available with Cost
Digitalis glycosides: Increased digitalis levels; increased risk of toxicity
Erythromycin: Increased felodipine concentrations
Fentanyl: Severe hypotension or increased fluid volume requirements
Grapefruit juice: Inhibits felodipine metabolism; 200% increase in AUC
Histamine. H2 antagonists: Increased bioBrands Available with Cost of felodipine
Hydantoins: Serum felodipine level may be decreased
Propranolol: Enhanced hypotension, increased propranolol concentrations
