Indications & Dose:
Reducing the risk of thrombotic stroke in aspirin intolerant patients or aspirin failures; prevention of thrombosis following intra coronary stent placement*; intermittent claudication*; chronic arterial occlusion*; sickle cell disease
BY MOUTH
Adults 250mg twice daily with food.
Children Not recommended
Contraindications:
Current blood dyscrasia (neutropenia, thrombocytopenia); history of TTP; hemostatic disorder or active pathological bleeding (such as being peptic ulcer or intracranial bleeding); patients with severe liver impairment
Side Effects:
GI (40% have GI effects): Cholestatic jaundice,diarrhea, Gf discomfort, hepatitis; increasedcholesterol, LDL, VLDL; nausea, vomiting
HEME: Agranulocytosis, bleeding (epistaxis,hematuria, conjunctival hemorrhage, GI bleeding),neutropenia, thrombocytopenia
SKIN: Pruritus, rash

Past liver disease, renal disease, elderly, children, increased bleeding risk (trauma, surgery, or pathological conditions, dental procedures)
Pregnancy ; use caution in nursing mothers
Interaction:
Drugs
Cyclosporine: Potential for reduction in blood cyclosporine concentrations
Phenytoin: Inhibition of hepatic metabolism of phenytoin; potential for development of phenytoin toxicity, reduction in phenytoin dose may be necessary
Theophylline: Increased theophylline level via inhibition of metabolism, increased risk of toxicity
