OMEPRAZOLE/ SODIUM BICARBONATE/MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE

Indications & Dose:

The dosage mentioned are calculated on the basis of Omeprazole In the product contents. 


Adults: 


Reflux esophagitis: 


20 mg once daily for 4 weeks, extend for a further 4-8 weeks if not fully healed. Refractory cases, 40mg once daily. 


Ado-reflux disease:


Long-term management, 10 mg once daily, increasing to 20 mg once daily if symptoms return.


Duodenal ulcer: 


20 mg once dally for 4 weeks. Se¬vere cases, increasing to 40 mg once daily. Preven¬tion of relapse, 10 mg once daily, increasing to 20 mg once daily if symptoms return. 


DU with H. Pylori: 40 mg daily with amoxycillin 1.5-2 gm daily for 2 weeks.


Gastric ulcer:


20 mg once daily for 6 weeks. Se¬vere cases, Increase to 40 mg once daily. 


Z-E syndrome:


60 mg once daily adjusted to re¬sponse. Usual maintenance. 20-120 mg daily. Dos¬es over 80 mg daily, give in two divided doses. Add aspiration: 40 mg in the evening of day before surgery, then 40 mg 1-4 hours prior to surgery. Children: Not recommended.


PREGNANCY: C (Risk cannot be ruled out).

Exclude malignancy before treatment. Hepatic impairment. Monitor serum B12 in severely ill children on tong term treatment,


Interactions: Diazepam, phenytoin, warfarin, digoxin, ketoconazole, itraconazole.

Adverse Effects:

Headache, GI Upset, skin rashes, paraesthesia, dizziness, somnolence, insomnia, arthralgia, myalgia. Increased risk of Gl infections. Increase in liver enzymes.
